My local track and go-to for hill training. Unlikely to win points for creativity it does what it says on the tin; provide a short, steep, repeatable climb. Thankfully, incredible vistas at the top more than compensate for the effort.
Nothing to write home about. A short burst up Nam Long Shan Road saves us the dull climb from the MTR station to the point where the trail begins.
No official parking but the road widens just after the trail entrance providing plenty of space to park the scooter.
The route is a straight vertical ascent up a combination steps and trail. Around halfway up the trail flattens out providing a pleasant runnable section. That run becomes ever more difficult with each ascent and I personally struggle not to fall back to a walk at the third time of asking!
Fortunately, there are impressive views at the top of the hill, overlooking Ocean Park and out to the south coast and surrounding islands. My own route starts with a full ascent of the hill, followed by two further descents to halfway and back to the top via that more runnable section of the hill. But its possible to run this in any combination of climbs. Feel the burn!
